Terms of Service

These terms apply to your use of Rung Chess ("Rung", "we", "us") at rungchess.com. By using Rung, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Rung.

The service

Rung is a free chess puzzle trainer with a level ladder, practice modes and a daily puzzle. We may add, change or remove features, levels or puzzles at any time, and we may pause or end the service.

Accounts

• Accounts are optional. You sign in with Google, and you're responsible for keeping your Google account secure.
• You need to be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• One account per person. Don't share accounts or sign in as someone else.
• You can delete your account at any time from the account menu. See the Privacy Policy for what that removes.

Acceptable use

Don't:

• Try to break, overload, or gain unauthorized access to Rung, its database, or other players' data.
• Use bots, scripts or automated tools to play, scrape, or send requests.
• Send spam, abusive content, or personal information through reports.
• Use Rung for anything illegal.

We may suspend or delete accounts that break these rules.

Your progress and ratings

Ratings, levels and streaks in Rung are for fun and practice. They aren't official chess ratings (such as FIDE, USCF, chess.com or Lichess ratings) and have no value outside the app. We try hard not to lose anyone's progress, but we can't guarantee it will always be available.

Content and credits

• Puzzles come from the Lichess puzzle database, released under CC0 (public domain).
• Chess pieces are the cburnett set by Colin M.L. Burnett, used under the GPLv2+ license.
• The Rung Chess name, logo, design, lessons and code belong to dockasso. Please don't copy them or present them as your own.

No warranty

Rung is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that it will be error free, uninterrupted, or that every puzzle solution is perfect. If you think a puzzle is wrong, please use "Report a problem".

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or progress, arising from your use of Rung. Because Rung is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to $0 where the law allows, and otherwise to the smallest amount the law permits.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top. If you keep using Rung after an update, the new terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, without regard to conflict of law rules.
